I would love to create multiple workspaces, i.e. separate all my Work notes and my Personal notes (with a complete separate set of hashtags)

I would prefer if this feature separated my notes in a visual way only and that mem would still function as one space.

One caveat — I want to still be able to search through all my notes in all spaces and link to those notes as well even if they are in different workspaces. Should I make this a new request?

Totally - create different knowledge spaces that don't interconnect.

I'd rather see the ability for the user to control if they connect or not, some users want global functions across workspaces and just separate them visually, others want as you say workspaces that don't interconnect, the best solution is to make this an option/configuration setting that users can control if/when they want either.
